Carriker Chronicles transcript

Oct. 19, 2016 – Purdue week – Wildcard Wednesday

Welcome, Husker Nation, to Wildcard Wednesday. As some of you may know, I had the opportunity – my son and I – to go Monday Night RAW this past Monday night. My friend Bill Goldberg got my son and I ringside tickets, and we also were able to go backstage and meet a bunch of the wrestlers.

Now we posted quite a few of those pictures below the video if you want to check them out. I’ve had the opportunity in the past to go to some previous shows and to meet some pretty cool wrestlers as well, and I posted those – four of the coolest wrestlers I ever had a chance to meet – this morning on my Twitter and Facebook account if you want to go check those out.

But anybody who knows me knows when it comes to sports, I watch two things: I watch football (college football and the NFL) and pro wrestling. And pro wrestling might be predetermined, but it is a sport. You try doing it.

So I know this may not be one of my most-watched videos of all time, but I’m about keeping things real and authentic and not being click-bait. So, without further ado is my Mount Rushmore of my personal all time favorite wrestlers.

Now real quick disclaimer: I’m going to be cutting some of my promos – some of my favorite promos from these wrestlers – I’m going to be keeping them authentic (a little bit of a personal twist), but authentic, so keep that in mind when you hear me say some things that I may not typically say.

First on the list is the Ultimate Warrior. The late, great, ultimate warrior, Jim Hellwig. Now he was actually my favorite wrestler as a child growing up. I was going to try to do one of his promos, but I don’t have any idea what he was talking about and I don’t think anybody did; but he was so jacked up, so energetic, and he had such passion that everybody loved him. So I’m not going to try to imitate one of his promos, but he was awesome.

Number three on the list is Stone Cold Steve Austin the Texas Rattlesnake, “oh hell yeah.” And “ah, Carriker 3:16 says I just whipped your ass and that’s the bottom line ’cuz Stone Cold said so.”

Number two on the list is the Jabroni beating, pie eating, trailblazing, eyebrow raising, heart stopping, elbow dropping people’s champ, The Rock. “What, you don’t think he should be number two on my list? People at home, is that what you think? It doesn’t matter what you think. Know your role and shut your mouth. I’ll do you one better, I’ll take ya down to Know Your Role Boulevard, which is one the corner of Jabroni drive and check your candy ass directly in to the Smackdown Hotel. If you smell-lllll what the largest arms on the D Line is cookin’!”

Now, number one on this list is gonna be no surprise, Bill Goldberg. Now he’s not number one on this list because he’s my friend, he’s actually my friend because he is number one on the list. But let me explain. Back in DC I had a show out there as well, and I was interviewing Robert RGIII and he was talking about his all time favorite wrestlers and he mentioned Goldberg. And when he was done talking I said Goldberg is my all time favorite wrestler. Goldberg heard the interview, sent me a message, ended up coming on the show. Turns out he loves football and he played at the University of Georgia. When Nebraska and Georgia played those two years in the bowl games and he and I talked a lot of trash, and thank goodness we won one of those two or I’d never live it down. And then he played in the NFL as a defensive lineman for the Atlanta Falcons. This dude loves football; and we kind of, you know, became friends over that. We’ve had the opportunity to get to know his wife, his son, his family and they are just really good people. He was my favorite wrestler for 15 years and over the past five years we’ve become friends.

Now, I’d love to have him on the show, talk some football. I think you guys at home would love it. Now, Goldberg, you might be da’ man; but as far as I’m concerned – you’re next!

Go Big Red, and always remember to Throw the Bones!
