John Bender's 70-yard run late in the second half lifted Nebraska to a 6-0 win at Kansas. NU was outyarded 338-133 in the game, according to the Omaha Bee, and the Cornhuskers escaped the first half tied at 0-0 after turning back the Jayhawks three times deep in Cornhusker territory. Bender, the Nebraska quarterback and captain, prevented a Kansas touchdown early in the second half by chasing down a Jayhawk who had sprinted 60 yards on a fumble return.
