Jayhawks snap 36-year drought vs. Huskers

After battling back from a 17-2 second-quarter deficit to cut the lead to two points in the third quarter, Nebraska gave up 23 unanswered points and lost to Kansas, 40-15, ending the Huskers’ 36-game series winning streak in the series.

Senior I-back Cory Ross cashed in for the Huskers with a one-yard touchdown run to trim KU’s lead to 17-15 with 6:19 left in the third quarter. The score was set by Adam Carriker’s recovery of a Kansas fumble at the KU 16. Nebraska’s two-point conversion attempt to tie the score was intercepted, and the Huskers didn’t threaten the rest of the way.

Kansas outgained Nebraska 428-138 in a strong all-around effort on offense, defense and special teams. NU managed just seven first downs while being held to 21 rushing yards and 117 yards passing.

The Huskers fell to 5-4 overall and 2-4 in Big 12 play as Kansas notched its first victory over Nebraska since a 23-13 win in Lincoln in 1968.

Commentary

Colonel Mustard

Clearly our program has regressed and the decline is much sharper than it was from Tom to Frank.

Shatel

The dethronement and humanization of Nebraska's proud dynasty in the old Big Eight is now officially complete.

Sipple

It’s become clear Nebraska players aren’t responding well to the second-year coaching staff.

Leever

Most good folks just want to know what happened to the program they used to identify with.

Husker Mike

This Husker program is staring 5-6 in the face for the second consecutive year.

Khus the Red

We were bested in the worst way, and not even the Kansas Board of Education could convince themselves that this three-game tailspin was intelligently designed.

Bonge

Surrendering the Big 12 to the likes of Kansas and Missouri can't be a good sign for Callahan's future.

Mabry

There was much rejoicing when it ended, and another set of goal posts was dismantled at the expense of Husker pride.
