Sooners rally, upend Huskers for Big 12 crown

Nebraska took a 17-0 lead early in the second quarter, but Oklahoma rallied for a 23-20 win in the Big 12 Championship game. Nebraska turnovers led to 13 Oklahoma points.

After holding a 20-17 halftime lead, Nebraska was shut out in the second half. Oklahoma’s Jimmy Stevens kicked a 27-yard field goal with 8:28 remaining to break a 20-20 deadlock.

The Huskers got the ball three more times but came up empty. Nebraska’s final effort ended with an incomplete pass on 4th-and-4 from the Huskers’ 47-yard line.

Nebraska jumped out to a 7-0 lead when Roy Helu Jr. broke off a 66-yard touchdown run in the first quarter. It was Helu’s seventh run of over 50 yards this season and also Nebraska’s seventh one-play touchdown drive in 2010.

Oklahoma outgained Nebraska 454-293 in total yardage. Senior placekicker Alex Henery became Nebraska’s all-time scoring leader in the contest with 396 career points.

You don't give a team with the kind of weapons OU has that many extra chances.

Martinez needed a breather and Green needed a chance.

Was Rex Burkhead really the best backup quarterback available tonight?

Don't hang this loss on Martinez alone. Bottom line, the kid didn't get much help.

Nebraska’s run in the Big 12 is over. Now it’s a bowl game, and then on to the Big Ten. None too soon it seems for everyone concerned.

Nebraska had effectively overcome injuries before. Why was Martinez's such a thorn in NU's side?

An imperfect game produced the perfect ending to the final Big 12 Conference championship game.

NU didn't win the Big 12 Championship. Because of the offense. Again.
