Buffalo Sabres vs. New Jersey Devils News, Analysis, and Picks

The Sabres will look for their second victory over the Devils in three days as they hook up again in Jersey on Tuesday night. Buffalo scored three-straight goals in the second, including a pair from Sam Reinhart to jump out to a 3-0 lead, and held on the rest of the way for the one-goal victory. Jack Eichel notched his team-leading 11th assist and is tied for the team league with 13 points on the year. Their first victory in five games since a two-week COVID-19 related stoppage didn’t come without a cost. The Sabres will be without defenseman Jake McCabe for 6-8 months after he suffered a severe knee injury against the Devils.

The losses continued on the ice following losing their defenseman as Buffalo suffered their third straight defeat to the Islanders in a week as New York down the Sabres 3-2 on Monday.

New Jersey will look to tie the season series at two with a victory on Tuesday. The Devils come in off a 4-3 loss to the Capitals on Sunday, a game where they had the lead going into the third. Washington scored three straight in the final frame, including Alex Ovechkin’s game-winner to down Jersey. Aaron Dell stopped 37 of 41 Washington shots in the loss.

Pittsburgh took Thursday and Saturday’s contests by a combined score of 7-3, with Crosby picking up a goal and two assists over the two-game span. They’ll now look to get back on track in their season series with longtime rivals Alex Ovechkin and the Caps.

Chicago Blackhawks vs. Columbus Blue Jackets News, Analysis, and Picks

The plucky Chicago Blackhawks look to keep their surprising season success going with a second straight victory over Columbus. The two teams met for a quick set ten days ago, with Chicago taking Game 2 after dropping the first match with the Blue Jackets. The victory started a three-game win streak for Chicago, who swept the Red Wings before dropping a 5-3 decision to Carolina on Friday.

Patrick Kane scored a goal and chipped in with a pair of assists in the loss to get up to a team-leading 26 points on the year. Kane has been fantastic for the Hawks and finds himself fifth in the league in scoring. The former first overall pick has Chicago clinging on to the final playoff spot in the Central Division just two points ahead of Columbus.

The Blue Jackets have fallen behind after dropping three of their past four games, including the 3-2 overtime loss to Chicago that started their rough stretch. Columbus’ latest setback came at the hands of the Predators on Saturday. The Blue Jackets allowed Nashville to score a pair of goals 29 seconds apart in the first minute of the third en route to a 4-2 defeat. They’ll try to get back on track by taking the season series lead over Chicago, which is currently tied at two games apiece.

The Picks:  Blue Jackets Moneyline -134, Total Over 5.5 (-110), Patrick Kane Over 0.5 Goals (+152)
