Report: Derek Carr is “in the Raiders’ Plans” for 2021

NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport reports that Carr is expected to be back as the Raiders’ starting quarterback in 2021. The Colts reportedly were rebuffed when they called to inquire about his availability, so they changed their focus to Carson Wentz.

The more likely scenario is that the Raiders will move on from Marcus Mariota. He is under contract for $10.625M in 2021, and he played well when forced onto the field for the Raiders this season. He was a highly-regarded prospect coming out of college, and he’s had mild success when he’s managed to stay healthy. Mariota seems like the perfect bridge quarterback to start next season for a team looking to develop a young quarterback.
