Huskers Stifle Roadrunners 69-53
 
Lincoln - Nebraska held Texas-San Antonio to 32.2 percent shooting from the floor, as the Huskers posted a 69-53 victory Sunday at the Bob Devaney Sports Center.

The Huskers relied on an outstanding defensive effort and balanced scoring, placing four players in double figures to improve to 2-2 on the season. NU received solid performances from sophomore Jake Muhleisen and John Turek, who combined for 26 points, as Muhleisen led NU with 14 points, while Turek hit 5-of-6 shots from the floor for 12 points.

Nebraska, which snapped a two-game losing streak, also received strong performances off the bench from freshman Jason Dourisseau, who scored 11 points in 21 minutes, and Andrew Drevo, who had 10 points and six boards

NU held the Roadrunners to just 19-of-50 shooting from the floor, including 3-of-24 from 3-point range, while posting a commanding 41-31 edge on the glass.

The Huskers took command of the contest midway through the first half, holding the Roadrunners to just one field goal in a 6:45 span, as Nebraska extended a three-point lead to 30-18 with 2:07 remaining before intermission.

The Huskers, who never trailed, led in double figures the entire second half, extending the lead to as many as 21 before UTSA closed to within 53-40 with 6:44 remaining. NU quickly ended any suspense with a 6-0 run and cruised to victory.

Ike Akotaobi led the Roadrunners, who fell to 1-3 with the loss, with 18 points, while LeRoy Hurd added 10 points and five boards in the loss.

The Huskers return to action this Thursday, Dec. 5, when they travel to Tampa, Fla., to take on the South Florida Bulls. Tipoff is scheduled for 6 p.m. (CST) and the game will be televised nationally on ESPN2.
