Huskers fall to Sooners in Norman

Norman, Okla. -- Junior forward Andrew Drevo was the only Husker able to produce on offense Tuesday as the No. 5 Oklahoma Sooners rolled to a 76-51 victory over Nebraska at the Lloyd Noble Center. With the loss, Nebraska fell to 11-17 on the year and 3-12 in conference play while OU improved to 21-5 overall and 12-3 in league action.

Drevo gave the Sooners all they could handle inside as he recorded 24 points on 11-of-17 shooting from the field. A native of Lincoln, Drevo scored 18 of Nebraskas 33 second-half points to tie his high scoring mark in league play (also 24 points vs. Missouri). The effort wasnt nearly enough as OU went on to pick up its 37th straight home victory behind a 25-0 run that spanned the end of the first and beginning of the second period..

Despite the final outcome, the Sooners did not start off well, as the Huskers frustrated them into missing 15 of their first 19 shots, including four from three-point range. The Sooners managed to take a four-point lead, 9-5, at the 13:38 mark on a Hollis Price two-pointer before the Huskers rallied back to tie it at 12-all on a Jason Dourisseau layup nearly five minutes later.

After DAngelo Alexander put the Sooners up by two, 14-12, Price got a lucky roll on a three-pointer to make it a five-point advantage and OU was off to a 9-0 run before Drevo finally answered with a basket at the 4:01 mark. After another Drevo basket and a pair of Nate Johnson free throws, the Huskers saw Oklahoma use a 13-0 run over the final 2:01 of the period to open a 38-18 lead at the intermission.

The Sooners continued to roll after halftime, reeling off 12 straight points to stretch the lead to 32, 50-18, before Turek scored NUs first points of the period at the 17:05 mark. OU eased the lead out to 35 points with 11 minutes to play before Nebraska started cutting it down. The Huskers outscored Oklahoma 16-7 over the final seven minutes to get to the final 25-point margin.

Drevo was the only Husker in double figures while senior guard Brennon Clemmons chipped in eight points, 11 rebounds and five assists. Turek added seven points and four boards while Johnson scored a season-low two points, after coming into the game leading the team with 13.6 points per contest.

Price scored 20 points to lead five Sooners in double figures, with center Jahbari Brown adding 14 points, eight rebounds and four blocks.

Nebraska returns to action on Saturday, March 8, when it heads to Boulder, Colo., for the regular-season final against Colorado. The game will tip off at 8 p.m. CST and can be heard live on the Pinnacle Sports Network and Huskers.com.
